Woodlands has a practice number from the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF) and is approved by the City of Johannesburg/ Health Department. A substantial portion of costs will thus be covered by the patient’s medical aid.

Apart from 24 hour nursing care, accommodation and meals, our tariff also includes laundry and a hairdresser. Additional medical services, not included in the tariff, are available on request and include, inter alia:

    • Physiotherapy
    • Podiatry
    • Occupational therapy
    • Speech therapy
    • Competent & Friendly Staff

Two qualified and experienced nursing sisters supervise the Home, assisted by a team of long-serving and dedicated caregivers. Up to 15 patients can be individually cared for. Two special High Care units with a total of 6 beds are also available for very frail patients. The Woodlands team is known for “going the extra mile”. Quality of life for our patients and peace of mind for their relatives is of utmost importance to us.

      Non-Institutional Environment

Accommodation at Woodlands is in comfortable, mostly north facing, private and semi-private rooms. Three nutritious home-cooked meals are provided every day as well as morning and afternoon tea. In summer and on warm winter days residents can relax on the spacious, covered patio or walk in the landscaped garden. Less mobile residents will always be assisted by a caregiver to minimise the possibility of a fall. We encourage moderate exercise at Woodlands. Very popular among our residents is “chair aerobics” conducted by a physiotherapist every Tuesday.

A cosy lounge with a library, a TV and a fireplace adjoins the spacious dining room. There are no steps and stairs to negotiate as everything is on one level.

      More Information

We have a public phone on the premises, but it is also possible to have your own private phone installed. The rooms in the new retirement wing all have telephone connections and cable links to the satellite dish antenna.

Residents can make use of their own family doctor or the Woodlands’ physician who is on call 24 hours. The sister on duty administers medication according to the doctor’s instructions.

The level of security is high at Woodlands with ADT Armed Response monitoring the premises on a 24-hour basis. We have recently added a “Bobby on the Beat” guard service. Adequate secure on-site parking is available for visitors too.
