(Previously known as Woodlands Convalescent Home)

Caring in Tranquil Surroundings

Woodlands was established in 1990 in President Ridge, a tranquil suburb of Randburg. We offer 24 hour professional nursing care to:

  • • Patients suffering from early dementia & Alzheimer's
  • • Stroke patients
  • • Post-operative patients
  • • Accident (trauma) patients
  • • Patients who are terminally ill
  • • Long and short term patients
  • • Patients who need to be cared for while their families are on holiday
  • • and those who want to retire in a friendly, peaceful and safe environment

In compliance with the Older Persons Act of 2006, Woodlands is registered with the Department of Social Development. We also have a practice number from the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF). A portion of our fees may thus be covered by the patient’s medical aid.

Apart from 24 hour nursing care, accommodation and meals, our tariff also includes laundry and the hairdresser. Additional medical services, not included in the tariff, can be arranged on request:

Competent & Friendly Staff

Two qualified and experienced nursing sisters supervise the Home, assisted by a team of long-serving and dedicated caregivers. A caregiver-to-patient-ratio of 1:3 ensures that we can provide individual care.

Two special High Care units with a total of 6 beds are also available for very frail patients. The Woodlands team is known for “going the extra mile”. Quality of life for our patients and peace of mind for their relatives is of utmost importance to us.

Non-Institutional Environment

Accommodation at Woodlands is in comfortable, mostly north facing, private and semi- private rooms. Three nutritious home-cooked meals are provided every day as well as morning and afternoon tea. In summer and on warm winter days residents can relax on the spacious, covered patios or walk in the landscaped garden. Less mobile residents will always be assisted by a caregiver to minimise the possibility of a fall. We encourage moderate exercise at Woodlands. Very popular among our residents is “chair aerobics” supervised by a physiotherapist every Tuesday.

More Information

The rooms in the new retirement section all have telephone connections and cable links to the satellite dish antenna.

Residents can make use of their own family doctor or the Woodlands physician who is on call 24 hours.

The level of security is high at Woodlands with an armed response company monitoring the premises 24 hours. We also have a secuity guard service that patrols the entire boomed-off suburb. Adequate secure on-site parking is available for visitors too.
